The Hall Stacking Chair is for the taproom that changes shape every week: trivia on Tuesday, a band on Friday, a private party on Saturday afternoon. It stacks eight high, weighs about 12 lb (5.5 kg) as designed, and is light enough to carry in one hand.
The frame is slim black steel tube with a clean, square profile. Nylon stacking buffers under the seat corners protect the upholstery of the chair below and stop the stack from scratching. A small gap between back panel and uprights gives a lighter look and a natural hand-hold.
Unlike most stacking chairs, it doesn't look like a banquet chair. The upholstered seat and back are edged in contrast piping, which gives it a tailored look at dining tables; in a taproom we suggest a commercial vinyl in charcoal, oxblood or olive.
The seat and back are designed to be recovered without replacing the frame, so a hard-used chair gets new upholstery rather than a trip to the dumpster. Seat height is 18 in (46 cm) for standard 30 in tables.
