The Bistro Ring-Stretcher Chair is a café classic adapted for a beer hall. Its back is a bent hoop of timber filled with turned spindles; the seat is a round solid wood disc with a shallow dish; and a bentwood ring under the seat ties all four legs together.
That ring is what makes it a commercial chair. It spreads the load when someone tips back, and it gives a resting place for feet. The legs splay slightly outward for stability, and the whole chair is finished in a dark brown stain that hides scuffs.
Construction. Solid hardwood with steam-bent back hoop and ring, turned spindles set into drilled holes, and legs fixed to the seat with glued joints and bolts. With no upholstery, there is nothing to stain or tear, and the seat simply wipes down.
Where it works. Busy beer halls, bar-side tables, outdoor-adjacent covered terraces and anywhere chairs get moved, stacked against walls and knocked about.
Stain is made to order; a tie-on cushion or upholstered seat insert is available for longer sittings.
