The Wrapped-Back Cord Chair is all timber and cord, with no foam to soak up beer. The seat is woven from natural paper cord in the classic envelope pattern, four triangles meeting at the center, over a solid wood seat frame. The back is a curved band, also wrapped in cord, that sits across two back posts at shoulder-blade height.
The frame is solid hardwood in a medium walnut stain, with round legs that taper slightly and a set of stretchers that brace the legs below the seat. The look is light and Scandinavian, but the construction is commercial: the cord is pulled tight and finished so it doesn't sag after a season.
Why paper cord. It is tough, breathable and easy to wipe, and it ages to a warmer tone. A seat that is badly damaged can be re-woven on the existing frame rather than thrown away.
Where it works. Dining tables in taprooms and gastropubs, café corners of breweries and any room where the chairs are left out on display.
Stain and cord color are made to order; a loose seat pad can be added for longer sittings.
